You’ve authored 20 craft books. Can you share what inspired you to start writing books on textile arts and crafts?
After many years in consumer journalism, I felt ready for a more flexible, personal path, so I took the leap into freelancing. In those early days, I juggled creative consultancy, workshops, proofreading, and technical editing, all while staying close to the craft world I loved. Then Haynes approached me to write a Sewing Manual- and everything clicked. That first book sparked a real love for sharing skills and inspiration, and since then, one book has simply led to the next.
With such a diverse range of crafts covered in your books, how do you decide which techniques or projects to focus on for each new book?
I’ve always loved working…
