EVERY YEAR APPLE unveils a new generation of operating systems at the June Worldwide Developers Conference. It then releases them as developer and public betas a little while later, and as a finished product by the fall. AIRDROP IS BY far the easiest and most convenient way to share files such as photos and videos between Apple devices. Simply open the file in question, tap the Share menu and select AirDrop. Nearby Apple devices will be shown, and all you have to do is tap the one you wish to send the file to, and it’s automatically transferred using an ad hoc wireless connection. But with the launch of iOS 17, AirDrop is about to get even easier — at least when it comes to transferring content between two iPhones. Instead of going through the Share menu and selecting AirDrop, in iOS 17 all you have to do is bring your iPhones close together and the file transfer is carried out automatically.
