As far as hunting and firearms are concerned, not much has changed in the last century. We still use vellies (at least some of us do), some hunters are still armed with black powder weapons dating from the 1800s and interestingly, quite a number of so-called ‘modern’ calibres date back to the same period.
Some of these calibres, used by numerous hunters during hunting season, are now called ‘classics’. The 7x57, 6.5x55, and .303 come to mind. Then of course there are dangerous game calibres like the .404 Jeffery, .416 Rigby and .375H&H that have all been around for more than 100 years. I acquired my .375H&H about 30 years ago, and to this day it has been my favourite calibre to use or talk about.
