The quilting book I go back to again and again is Quilting by Hand by Riane Elise (2021, Quadrille Publishing). It is one of those books you want to curl up with, with a cocoa in hand, and fabric piled about you like a quilter’s dream fort in the making. All the beautiful pieces are just waiting to become magic.
I was initially drawn to Riane’s book by its cozy, clean, minimalist design. Then I opened it, and its peaceful, creative presence and easy-to-follow instructions solidified it forever as my favorite quilting book. Riane talks about finding your voice, designing your own quilts, materials and tools, scaling, techniques and construction, quilt care, and hand care! Plus, it’s full of patterns.
As someone relatively new to quilting…
