An Eastern Cape woman has been arrested on eight counts of fraud, for running an unregistered college.
In a statement, provincial Hawks spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said Afika Nwabisa Mabongo, 37, was arrested on fraud charges by the Mthatha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team.
She said it was alleged that, between January 2012 and December 2012, Mabongo was the director of MA-B Training Academy, which operated as an institution of higher learning. According to Mgolodela, once students had completed their course, they were issued with certificates which stated they were qualified in whichever field they had studied.
