THE horrific scenes of violence, looting of private property and destruction of infrastructure, mainly in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, need decisive leadership from those entrusted with running the country.
The riots following the jailing of former president Jacob Zuma to serve 15 months in jail for contempt of court, have been hijacked by criminal elements, with devastating consequences for the country.
Supermarket chain stores, malls, hardware stores and trucks transporting much-needed goods to various parts of the country have fallen prey to the wave of looting in every region of KwaZulu-Natal.
The violence has now also spread to parts of Gauteng, including Vosloorus, Alexandra and the Johannesburg CBD.
If the country’s leadership, from local, provincial and national government, continues to fiddle while Rome burns, the fires of destruction will soon burn…
