Our president’s recent approval of a 3% increase in salary retroactive to April last year for various categories of public officials, namely the deputy president, ministers, deputy ministers, premiers, MECs, MPs, mayors and councillors, as well as judges and magistrates, is beyond belief when one looks at what they have done.
The increase is a slap in the face of the working class, with the exception of the judges and magistrates. The rest of the public officials, including the president, should have taken a 10% cut in salaries for the way they have performed over the past two years.
