After battling end-stage kidney failure, a 9-year-old boy, who has recently had a kidney transplant, realised his dream when he met his favourite Springbok rugby player, Eben Etzebeth, yesterday.
Blayke Fourie, of Roodepoort in Johannesburg, travelled to Durban with his father, Paul Fourie, for a fun-filled day made possible by Reach for a Dream’s annual Slipper Day campaign in partnership with Wimpy.
Blayke got to meet some of his Springbok heroes and watch the Sharks team training.
He also spent time with Etzebeth at the Mercedes uMhlanga dealership.
Kerry Donkin, the regional manager of Reach for a Dream in KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and Northern Cape, said: “His face lit up when he spotted Eben in the crowd of players training and he told me how big Eben’s hands were.”…
