CAMPFIRES ABOUT CAMPFIRES Campfires can be used as both a source of light and as a means to cook food. They can be lit and unlit at will, and inflict one damage on mobs as well as potential fire damage. Campfires emit a light level of 15 when lit. They can be extinguished by flowing water, splash water bottles or using a shovel. Rain doesn’t affect them. OBTAINING CAMPFIRES Campfires generate in taiga and snowy taiga villages, but can only be collected with a Silk Touch-enchanted tool. Mining a campfire will otherwise cause it to drop two charcoal. This is a jungle temple – it’s normally hidden inside the deep foliage of a jungle forest, but here it has generated just outside of the trees. REINFORCED WALLS Creepers can blast their way through walls like they were made of polystyrene, and almost nothing can stop them – except, of course, obsidian. The only truly blast-proof block in the game (that you can collect without cheating!) is made by putting running water on top of lava blocks, and it can withstand a direct blast from a creeper without a scratch on it. Unfortunately, building your walls out of obsidian makes them look ugly and weird. To get around this, build a reinforced wall instead. To do this, build your base the size and shape you want, then create an obsidian shell around it. WHAT’S THE EDUCATION EDITION? Developed for use in classrooms, the Education Edition is technically a separate version of Minecraft – however, hidden within your Bedrock Edition options, you can enable these features on a per-world basis. To activate them, when you create a new world you have to scroll down into the settings to the “cheats” section. Enable cheats, and directly below it you should see the option “Education Edition”. Enable that too, then scroll back up and create your world as normal! You’ll arrive in the Overworld as expected, but you’ll now have access to new features and blocks! Available in all six colours of wood, boats are a crucial part of playing Minecraft – you probably won’t get far without them! Boats are just under one and a half blocks wide and half a block tall. We’ve put together a jumping puzzle that takes you all the way from the ground to a dizzying height, and we did it with just a few blocks and a lot of patience!
