CREATING GLAZED TERRACOTTA Although some forms appear as part of generated structures, if you want to make glazed terracotta you’ll have to learn how to craft it yourself. The process is simple: create terracotta (hardened clay) by smelting clay blocks in a furnace. Now craft a specific colour of terracotta by crafting eight of the blocks with the relevant colour dye. Finally, place the dyed terracotta into a furnace and smelt it again. The results will be the crazypatterned glazed terracotta! Fires can be started on almost any block and if they burn in the same space as a flammable block, they will eventually consume it. TOXIC POND The addition of frogs to Minecraft is a great start for making ponds look scary. Why not take it a step further with this miniature toxic pond build? To create this, find (or create) a small pond and then replace all of the water with slime blocks to give it a green, off-putting appearance. Now use dead coral blocks and coarse dirt around the edges to make it look like the whole environment has died out as a result of the pollution. WHAT YOU NEED The full resources you need to make an automatic smelter from scratch are: 48 x wood planks, 15 x iron ingots, 8 x cobblestone. Craft the wood planks into six chests, then craft three of those chests with the iron to make three hoppers. The cobblestone is used to make a furnace. STEP ONE: REACHING THE END Just in case you don’t know how to reach the End, here’s the short version of what you have to do! First, locate a stronghold. You do this by throwing eyes of ender, which are crafted from blaze powder and ender pearls. Follow the trail they leave and eventually they’ll begin to hover in one place. At this point, you should dig directly downwards to discover the entrance to a stronghold. Now explore the stronghold until you find the End portal room – every stronghold has one, though they’re hard to locate. ABOUT LEADS Leads are useful items that can be attached for most mobs so that you can either move them around from place to place, or tie them to a specific area without having to fence them in. To use a lead, hold it in your inventory and click on the mob you want to attach it to. You can then either keep holding the lead or attach it to some other item, such as a fence post. They will stay in place more or less indefinitely, unless the mob despawns or the lead is damaged or broken. Strongholds can generate anywhere as long as it’s below sea level, so you’ll never find one higher than Y=72. Apart from that, they can generate anywhere, even down to the bedrock layer, although they are usually surrounded by stone and will only rarely generate floating in an ocean. Netherrack is extremely soft and quick to mine, so we wouldn’t recommend using anything more complicated than an iron pickaxe! Any other pick will wear out extremely quickly…

ACTIVATOR RAIL When a redstone signal is powering it, an activator rail will ‘activate’ any minecart that passes over it. This could mean ejecting the passenger, enabling or disabling a minecart’s hopper, or setting the TNT alight. BUTTON When pushed, a button will generate a redstone pulse.
