BUILD SPECS This desert village is styled to look great in desert biomes, and is especially good for the rugged mesa biomes – but can be ideal for any hillside builds! To fit in the with the theme, we’ve used sandstone, red sandstone and yellow terracotta to build our houses – also there are oak doors, trapdoors, ladders and fences and buttons. Start by laying a foundation of 6 x 5 blocks, mining out some of the hillside if you need to. Then build a simple cube four blocks high. ARCHAEOLOGY First demonstrated in 2021, the archaeology features let you explore the Overworld’s past in the classic Minecraft style: by digging it up. Trail ruins are a new type of generated structure that appear buried inside taigas, old growth birch forests and jungles. Digging down under the surface will uncover much bigger structures than you initially see, as well as heaps of opportunities to harvest rare blocks and collect loot. Whenever you start a new game world in Minecraft, one of the first things you’ll need to build is a crafting table. While you can access some crafting items on the move, that inventory-based system is limited to a 2x2 grid interface. A crafting table opens things up to a 3x3 grid, and with that comes access to the early tools and weapons you’ll need to survive out in the wild – and eventually a whole lot more. Building a beacon is often seen as more of an ‘endgame’ activity. Not because you need to have completed the game to gather the required elements – it’s more to do with the amount of ore that you’ll need to complete the pyramid it needs to rest upon in order to work.
