GETTING KELP Kelp generates as a plant in most oceans. It is a type of seaweed that grows on the ocean floor and typically stretches very high up – almost to the surface in most cases. Breaking any part of a kelp stalk will break all of the pieces of kelp above it, causing them to float to the surface of the water, so it’s extremely easy to harvest large amounts! BATS can be found in caves. They have 6 health, cannot fight, and drop nothing. Secret: Around Halloween, they spawn in the map more frequently! BEES live in nests that generate on trees. They can sting the player if provoked, inflicting poison. They have 10 health and no drops. Secret: Bees can pollinate crops by flying nearby, which speeds up plant growth. CACTUS WHERE TO FIND IT Cactus blocks grow as part of cacti, which you can find in desert and badlands biomes. Cacti are considerably more common in normal deserts than badlands – you’ll find almost twice as many there – but they’re still very easy to spot given how open the landscape is! JANUARY January saw the announcement of a release date for Minecraft Legends, the latest spin-off in the franchise! It was here that the 18th April release was confirmed for every major platform and we knew when we’d finally be able to get our hands on a copy. Seems like ages ago now! BUILD SPECS As it is the season, we’re going to build an awesome Christmas tree. This is based on the ideas of YouTuber HALNEY, and starts with a frame of spruce blocks. Before adding spruce leaves, a lightning rod and conduits as lights. Super-clever! ■ Start by building your trunk up three, and extending a branch out five blocks from there. In between these branches, add others going out three diagonally. ■ Go up three more blocks and repeat with branches of 4 and 2.
