• The Mini is one of the leading things that make Britain great, according to a list compiled by Best of British magazine to commemorate its 250th issue. The Mini came in at number 25 in the list of 250, making it the highest-placed car. Next up was Aston Martin in 71st place.
Compiled from suggestions by the magazine’s readers, contributors and staff, the list also recognised Jaguar and Rolls-Royce, along with Black Cabs and the Routemaster Bus. Famous Mini drivers Paddy Hopkirk and Rowan Atkinson’s Mr Bean character were also included, alongside Sir Stirling Moss and the late John Surtees.
