• The number of people in receipt of a public-sector pension of more than £100,000 a year has trebled in the past seven years, reports The Guardian – 375 retirees from the NHS, civil service and teaching took home six-figure pensions. And the number who received a pension of more than £28,000 a year – the average annual salary in the UK – rose by 46% to 115,000.
• Dominic Shellard, who resigned as vice-chancellor of De Montfort University earlier this year after a vote of no confidence by the university’s executive board, was not averse to spending public money, reports the Daily Mail.
