THE GTO’S RACE record is remarkable, having competed at Sebring, Le Mans, and every other major sports car racing venue that mattered. It was enough to garner the World Manufacturer’s Championship for Ferrari in 1962, ’63, and ’64. In today’s marketplace, Ferrari GTOs sell for $20 to $25 million each, depending upon condition, provenance, and race history. Which means this gathering of 20 GTOs at the Monterey Historic Auto Races (since renamed the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion) a few years back is worth between $400 and $500 million or so, give or take a few mil.
