Wayne Burgess has been with Jaguar Land Rover since the Ford days and currently is the lead Jaguar designer for production cars as well as for the SVO division, where he just finished Project 8—an XE sedan taken to the max. We sat down with him at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he talked about design while sketching the Project 8, his latest design in a career that includes work on the London taxi, Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph, Bentley Arnage, Land Rover Discovery, Rover 25, and Rover 45, Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, and the Jaguar X-Type, S-Type, XF, F-Pace, F-Type, F-Type SVR, Project 7, XJ, and Project 8. In his spare time, he shreds a mean guitar with the heavy metal band Scattering Ashes.
