Fairbourne memories
I have greatly enjoyed the recent I coverage of the (old) Fairbourne railway in NGW, and it was the destination of an annual family outing, to the seaside, from the Midlands 60 or more years ago. Nostalgia-wise, although it was always fascinating to make a journey on the 15-inch line, most days we chose seemed to be either when it was miserable weather, or only a diesel loco was in use, or of course both; steam was a rarity, whether ‘Sian’, ‘Katie’ or ‘Ernest. W. Twining’.
I looked out some old photos and was surprised to find a splendid postcard of ‘Prince Charles’, a loco that I think was only there for a couple of seasons, according to Boyd’s Narrow Gauge in Mid-Wales, possibly before Sian or Katie,…
