A grainy photograph of a pretty woman holding a baby is one of Carrie McArthur’s most treasured possessions.
Carrie, 33, was the sole survivor of a fire that wiped out her family when she was just 8 years old in 1992. Not only did she lose her mother, Susan, 28, in the blaze but her two sisters, Christine, 9, Adele, 8, and brother, Robert, aged 5, too.
Her life was saved by a brave paramedic who battled through the intense heat and smoke to reach her bedroom and lift her to safety.
