For his parents, Jeff and Jill, they’ll be spending the day doing what they do best – proudly sharing his story in the hopes another family will not receive the same devastating phone call they did. With everyone feeling the cost-of-living crisis, a small team of big-hearted volunteers from the NSW Central Coast decided to do something to brighten the spirits – and wardrobes – of women doing it tough in regional Australia. “We put a call out to tell family and friends what we were doing,” Paula Hardwick, 60, tells New Idea. “The response was extraordinary. COLD-BLOODED KILLER Jean Eric Gassy was a Sydney-based psychiatrist until 1997, when he was deregistered after being diagnosed with a delusional disorder. Five years later, he took revenge on the woman he believed cost him his career. On October 14, 2002, Gassy killed Dr Margaret Tobin as she exited a lift at her office in Adelaide. She was shot four times in the back. At the time, Dr Tobin was the head of South Australia’s mental health service. The 50-year-old had previously worked with the Southern Sydney Area Health Service, where Gassy was a psychiatrist.
