Following months of speculation, director Sam Mendes has unveiled the actors who will lead his four standalone biopics on The Beatles.
Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn were announced at last week’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas. Paul, 29, will play Paul McCartney, Harris, 28, is John Lennon while Barry, 32, and Joseph, 31, will portray Ringo Starr and George Harrison respectively. Although there were some moans about two Irishmen – Paul and Barry – being tapped to play the legendary Liverpudlians, the casting was generally well-received by fans.
Sam, 59, explained that the story of The Beatles, who rose to fame in the 1960s, was “too huge to fit into a single movie”. Therefore, he decided to give each band member their own film.
