A large contingent of shooters travelled from the Western Cape to Hanover in the Northern Cape, about 700 km one way. At this event 26 (out of 49) Western Cape shooters competed in the KO1M event and 23 (out of 48) in the KO2M match. Most shooters chose to take part in both events to gain experience and shoot more rounds. This strong provincial representation is due to the vibrant ELR shooting community in the Western Cape. The WP Open Bisley Championship is a three-day event held annually in October, attracting a combination of the best local and national shooters to the Good Hope Shooting Range near Atlantis. Many of the shooters at the event participate in the annual South African Open Championships, normally held in Bloemfontein around the end of March.
