Formerly the owner of Velo’s Cyclery and general manager of SkyBike (both now defunct), Orellana remains committed to promoting cycling in West Palm Beach through UpCycle. Originally from Westport, Connecticut, Luce now resides on the water in Jupiter, “where I am in my element,” she says. Designer Andrea Martoccia-Fava of Motivo Home was tasked with breathing new life into a 1980s beachside pad. Her client’s desire for this Gulf Stream condo, which once belonged to his parents, was to transform it into a staycation destination ideal for hosting Sunday brunches, martini happy hours, and out-of-town guests. Martoccia-Fava added sentimental art pieces and fashionable wallpapers to the rooms to craft what she deems “a whimsical, vintage-inspired piedà-terre.” The living room, however, presented an additional challenge. “In this instance the client wanted the space to function mainly as a cozy room for TV watching, but also as a comfortable and relaxing retreat that could easily transition to a guest bedroom,” the designer explains. Touted by celebs such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr, the beauty technique of dry brushing is growing in popularity thanks to its ability to exfoliate dead skin cells. It also has the purported benefit of improving and stimulating the nervous system. Brazilian-American watercolor artist Amanda Costa Marino has expressed herself through art since childhood. This month brings new possibilities and a fresh start. Nothing is cleaner than simple black and white, so I’ve compiled home, beauty, and fashion items in that most classic of color palettes.
