When my kids were younger, one of our favourite things to read at bedtime was a picture book called Penguin Problems by Jory John. Now, I realize that this is a photography magazine and not a journal of comparative literature, so I’ll just give you a quick, two-sentence synopsis of the plot of Penguin Problems. Basically, a penguin goes through its daily life complaining about anything and everything, until it comes across a friendly walrus. The walrus suggests that although things may look difficult at times, we can choose to look at the good things all around us—and by doing so, the penguin may realize that overall, life is actually pretty good.
