GoPro has unveiled its new flagship action camera, the Hero 8 Black. Arriving alongside it is the GoPro Max, a 360-degree camera that improves on the GoPro Fusion, and a range of ‘Mods’ designed to enhance the Hero 8 Black’s filmmaking capabilities. USE A LENSBABY Experiment with creative blur Photographer Craig Strong created the very first Lensbaby back in 2003, using an old large format lens and vacuum cleaner hose, in an attempt to give his early digital images a bit of character. A year later the Lensbaby went into production, and within six months of its launch it was being used by photographers in 40 countries worldwide. The winners of Environmental Photographer of the Year 2019 contest have been announced, showcasing images that highlight mankind’s impact on the environment, and drawing attention to issues ranging from climate change to over-fishing. Announcing the winning images to coincide with the UN’s Climate Action Summit in New York, the contest organisers, The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management said: “These winning photographs reveal the raw reality of how people and wildlife are struggling with the impacts of climate change all around the world. FIVE THINGS TO LOOK FOR… 1 Modifier kits are a great entry into lighting effects, but some kits contain items that are of limited use. 2 If a modifier won’t fit in your kit bag, it won’t be much use. Go for something that’s collapsible. 3 Most modifiers will fix to your flashgun with a strap or elastic band, but a few are fussier.
