WHAKAARI / WHITE ISLAND
DAVE HORTON
“Whakaari, also known as White Island, is an active volcano in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty. Even here, viewed from the coast of the mainland 30 miles away, it’s clear that the volcano was still quite active in July 2021, and a maritime exclusion zone remained in place around the island at the time.”
