International Garden Photographer of the Year has revealed the winners of its IGPOTY 17 contest, showcasing another spectacular selection of images of flowers, plants, gardens, fungi, woodlands, and just about anything else you can think of that grows.
This year’s overall winner was June Sharpe, for her intricate abstract image of layered conifer branches, which, she says “reminded me of the dancing cranes often featured in Japanese woodcuts”. She processed the image, entitled Birdscape, to alter the colours and “enhance the feeling of movement and sense of the ‘birds’ dancing in a fantasy woodland”.
