The Dakota was a key player in Auto-Trail’s high-spec, flagship Frontier until 2019. This 7.5m-long low-profile helped to define the term ‘two-berth luxury coachbuilt’.
Its rear French bed/front lounge with short settees floorplan was one that simply fell out of favour generally, but there’s plenty to like about it as a pre-owned purchase.
There were two excellent examples at SMC Motorhomes, Newark, Nottinghamshire – one auto, one manual – at the time of writing. The latter (pictured, right) is a slightly more expensive 2015 manual model, with under 27,000 recorded miles. This vehicle, on a 4250kg chassis with Fiat’s 150bhp engine, is 7.65m long, and priced at an attractive £52,995.
