CAPTAIN KELLY CALWAY defines Army Strong. In 2006, soon after beginning her military career, she ran her first marathon on a lark, seriously undertrained, and finished in 3:10:29. The following morning, the then 22-year-old second lieutenant shouldered a 45-pound pack and marched 16 miles in the Arizona desert as part of her Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course. “When we started out, I could barely move,” she says. “I remember tripping and having to catch all that weight with my quads.
