I spend my time leading workshops on storytelling or the art of storytelling and engaging in retelling stories, mostly from my African and Caribbean heritage. Caribbean coral reefs are commonly known as the “Greater Caribbean” (Tropical Western Atlantic). This region extends from the Bahamas through to the coast of South America, including the waters of the Greater and Lesser Antilles. These two groups of islands bound the Caribbean Sea in the north and east. The greater Antilles include the largest islands Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico, the Lesser Antilles are smaller. There are two types of coral reefs within the Caribbean, Fringing reefs, the most common type. These reefs are extensive and well developed. The fringe reefs encircle most of the islands throughout the Caribbean. Barrier reefs run between the coasts of Belize and Guatemala. The Story of Britain’s Black Airmen is your Latest collaboration. What discussions did you have on how to bring the story to life with the illustrations? Kandace: When I wrote the manuscript, I gave some ideas and suggestions on how to demonstrate the illustrations in the book. Sharing some photos from people who were the descendants of the airmen. Elizabeth: Yes, I received Kandace notes, however; I had the creative freedom to recommend my interpretations and handover to the publishers to approve. I had a lot of fun doing research and understanding what the publishers were trying to convey. While doing the illustrations, I learnt a lot. There was not much input between myself and Kandace until the later stages of the process. It was actually a pretty good experience…

My mum signed me up to multiple creative clubs and classes, including arts & crafts, pottery, tap, ballet and hip hop dance classes.
