Gone in 60 seconds Bergamo 2 came into the possession of AFSC member Dave Gibbs after an experience that could have put many off scootering forever. “Earlier this year I had two scooters stolen from my garage,” he explained. “An SX and GP, both of which were of great sentimental value. They will also be included on the club’s top speed roll of honour. Riders must do two things to qualify; firstly you must do 100mph on your scooter, obviously. Secondly, you must be able to validate it with a timing slip from an official timed meeting. The slip must include the time, date and place where the event was held at. The exact discipline doesn’t matter, so it could be over a quarter mile or one-mile distance, just so long as you do it. Brothers Giulio and Guido of Armandos in Sheffield are back from their latest Italian buying trip with a host of desirable items. It’s difficult to pick out favourites from the wide selection of Series 2 and 3 machines but there are a couple of standout items including a Series 1 Li150 Frame-breather. Subject of an older style restoration, this machine’s desirability increased after research revealed it dates from the first two months of Li production. At the other end of Innocenti’s spectrum is an exceptionally scarce DL(GP) 200 Electronic which is still fitted with its full factory ignition system. The BSSO race season is around seven months long, traditionally lasting from the middle of March through to the traditional last weekend of September. Into those six or seven months is packed a test-day and around eight championship weekends, with a few other events here and there thrown in for fun, like the chance to sprint or hill climb. But what else goes? The BSSO AGM and presentation has been moved to a pre-Christmas slot which allows rules developments and changes to be agreed and communicated early so riders and tuners can get going quickly and make the most of any new or amended rules. As aresult of the recent loss of one of their valued members, the Burton Brewers dedicated this year’s event to Ian Hudd, a talented airbrush artist and owner of Picture Me Gone. Established in 1953, Burton Brewers are a Scooter Club with over 60 years’ history. Their members are inclusive, experienced, warm-welcoming, well-informed and most of all, friendly. The event is held in the historic town of Burton-on-Trent, at the National Brewery Centre. It’s agreat venue, which provides excellent facilities throughout. I wanted something that had history and looked good.
