I’ve been into scooters since 1985, when, as a 17-year-old Mod, I bought my first one, a second-hand Vespa 100 from a Rocker-type guy who bought, fixed up and then sold motorcycles (and the odd scooter) from his house in my hometown of Antrim, Northern Ireland (I think I paid in the region of £70 for it). Since then I’ve had a multitude of scooters and they have all been Vespas; it was never intentional for them all to be from the Piaggio stable – it just happened that way.
