Choppers can be like Marmite, you either love ’em or hate ’em. But for me, personally, they fit into that ‘other’ category, the one labelled: ‘I wouldn’t own one myself, but goddamn, it’s a beautiful machine.’ With a love of fast scooters and race paint, I would never be happy on a chopper – unlike Dave Madison, of MadSpeed fame, who, from the way he appears so effortlessly cool astride one, looks like he was born to ride such machines. I could never manage to pull off that look without wobbling at the traffic lights, but I do appreciate the thought, work and engineering that goes into building these fantastic beasts.
