South coast boat anglers are finding some superb shore and boat sport for turbot and brill.
A trip out of Weymouth, Dorset, for skipper Jeff Clarke with his boat Duchess, produced six turbot, including this 14-pounder for local angler and boat regular Caroline Haddrell.
A few days later, Leah Pitcher, of Bridport, Dorset caught her first brill, weighing a whooping 6lb 5oz, and her partner Paul Gale followed up with a 6lb turbot and 4lb brill. The same boat also produced an impressive 12lb turbot for Geoff Dyke on May 1.
Using a launce bait resulted in a 10lb 1oz brill for Lance Kempster, of Braintree, Essex. He was fishing aboard Rob Hickin’s boat Sea Juicer, out of Portsmouth, Hants.
