Competition authorities in Denmark and Sweden have approved a take-over by Molslinjen of the five-vessel Great Belt operation of ForSea on the short crossing between Helsingborg and Helsingør.
It becomes the tenth route for Aarhus-headquartered Mols, now into a 60th year, whose current fleet comprises 15 vessels, with the largest, the 18,009gt Hammershus, dating from 2018, and Povl Anker (1978/12,358gt), which both handle Bornholm services.
ForSea have been running with Tycho Brahe (1991/10,845gt), Aurora AF Helsingborg (1992/10,918gt) and Hamlet (1997/10,067gt), taking cars, commercial vehicles and passengers, with freight support from UK-built sisterships Mercandia IV (1989/4,511gt) and Mercandia VIII (1987/4,296gt).…
