HOLDING THE HOOK Try these methods and see which works best. PENCIL METHOD Hold the hook like a pencil, in your right hand (if you’re right-handed), about 3-5cm from the hooked end. If your hook has a flat area, you’ll find it comfortable to hold it here. My ‘hooky treasure’ has to be all the clothes worn for my wedding, and especially my veil. I knew I didn’t want a wedding that was only white, so I got a rainbow bright selection! All of the pieces were made in a huge range of stitches, using small hooks. It took weeks and weeks to do, but I loved every minute of it, and it’s not often you find a project you can dedicate so much time to. The veil was given to me by my mum. “If I see some gorgeous yarn it always seems to come home with me.” There comes a moment in every crocheter’s life when you realise your yarn stash is gaining a life of its own.
