We loved it... SALTHOLME RSPB KNITS What? The whimsical woolly wildlife display at RSPB Saltholme nature reserve and discovery park. What did we do? Wandered around the wildlife garden taking in and snapping all the woolly knitted exhibits from eager north-east knitters, watched thousands of birds assemble on the pools and browsed the well-stocked gift shop for present ideas. What did we buy? A wonderful hot meal made with locally-sourced ingredients, followed by freshly brewed coffee and a selection of mouthwatering handmade cakes. When Natalie McCulloch approached her local library as a venue for a knitting group, they couldn’t have anticipated what a noisy bunch they’d be!
