STAR LETTER YOUR HEART’S DESIRE I thought I would share a wedding gift I made for my nephew, Michael, and his new wife, Emily. (I have included a wedding photo of Emily and Michael.) I made the blanket from the Simply Knitting ‘Your Heart’s Desire’ KAL blanket by Lynne Rowe (issues 179-184). I absolutely love the finished project. I opted for brighter and bolder colours than the orignal pattern. I adored the heart motif, and felt that this was the perfect added touch for a wedding blanket. The two knitted teddies are from The Knittables pattern and I worked out the kilt pattern into the same kilt that Michael wore at his wedding. To make the new school year really special for the children of Fairmilehead, their local Parish Church Knitting Group decided to make each child a knitted teddy bear to welcome them. Fairmilehead Parish Church group member Helen Grant tells us all about the inspiration behind the heart-warming idea. Before lockdown, Helen, a retired Office Manager, and the rest of her church knitting group met once a month in their church hall for coffee, a catch up, and some knitting, of course. Well! What a year that was! We all knew that our chosen crafts were important to us but were reminded of just how essential they are during the lockdowns of 2020, along with our health, our families and the ability to go for a walk or to the shops.
