GET INVOLVED Teddies for Tragedies Bringing comfort to children around the world, this campaign is looking for volunteers to knit and distribute items in their local area The very first teddies were knitted in 1986 in Somerset, and added to a consignment of medicines on their way to a refugee camp in Sudan. The doctors at the camp found that the bears could do more good than they did, giving the children much needed hope. Recently, I was given a bag of wool. Lots of wool! Balls of different colours, different types and different amounts. I wasn’t particularly happy about this. It was mainly odds and ends.
