It’s been a difficult few months after my cancer diagnosis last year and I am only now beginning to feel like me again and to have the enthusiasm and ability to pick up crafting once more. But although unable to knit, cancer didn’t stop me from increasing my yarn collection! Whilst out and about, I’ve been buying a ball of this and a ball of that, increasing my stash somewhat. STARTING SMALL Stash and stashbusting were new terms for me. I was aware that I had quite a collection of odd balls of yarn, but hadn’t realised there was a specific term for it or that stashbusting meant using up left-over small amounts. TEA COSY FOLK FAN I love knitting tea cosies, especially the ones designed by the very talented Susan Cowper (AKA Tea Cosy Folk). They usually take me around two weeks to complete from start to finish, depending on how intricate the design is. I only have one teapot myself but I give most of them away as gifts to friends and family. It’s so exciting knitting them and seeing them come to life! Black Girl Knit Club (BGKC) is a knitwear collective, founded by friends Sicgmone Kludje and Vea Koranteng, both of Ghanaian decent, born and bred in East London.
