STAR LETTER RECYCLE AND RELOVE My mother was a wonderful knitter and over the years knitted for her children, her grandchildren and her American pen friend’s children and grandchildren. Her American friends and family saved and treasured her garments, whilst in the UK, after years of wear, her own family passed them on to charity shops for other families to enjoy. Last year, one of the American children, now 41 years old, came to visit and brought with her a selection of the jumpers that my mum had knitted in the 1980s. STITCH MARKER CHEAT I’m sure I’m not alone when it comes to this, but I’m forever losing my stitch markers down the side of the sofa! And it always seems to be when I need it urgently. When this happens I use a length of 4ply yarn from my stash (I usually opt for cotton as it stays neat and is nice and strong). I tie a knot in one end so it creates a closed loop, and slip it on my needle when I need to. I always choose a bright contrast colour so I can see it clearly in the knitting.
