The first garment I officially ever made was a blouse at Wimbledon School of Art. I say a blouse but it was actually a Hamlet shirt so chosen for its many techniques. A T-shaped garment with sleeves, cuffs, box pleats, a placket, and even gussets. I loved mine and wore it to death even though the construction may have been a bit dodgy! (I hardly dare tell you how I wore it, teamed with a WW2 trench coat, a mustard Grecian shawl, and suede pixie boots! That’s my street cred gone, but in my defence, it was London in the early 80s!)
So, I thought I would ask you all to send me pictures of your blouses, shirts, and tops and tell me a bit about why you made them…
