On the evening of September 23rd, the Austrian Parliament hosted the awards ceremony for the 12th Global Peace Photo Awards. Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the Austrian National Council, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing in his speech the importance of dialogue in overcoming conflicts and the role of liberal democracy in providing the best framework for such discourse.
These winners were selected from a pool of 21,220 submissions from 122 countries, a notable increase from 2023’s 19,195 entries from 133 countries. This year, the highest number of entries came from India, Germany, Russia, Iran, and the USA. The prestigious title of “Peace Photo of the Year” went to Elisa L.
