For homeowners Beth and Mark Sharman, whose blended family includes five grown children, the renovation of their forever home was a major undertaking. “Though we started the process with our architect and builder, I didn’t hire a designer to walk me through each step, and I regret not doing that early on, because picking out all the flooring, tiles, fixtures, and countertops was completely overwhelming,” says Beth Powell-Sharman, who eventually brought on interior designer Kaycie LaGrone of Circa Studio to help furnish the home.
The architectural transformation of the four-bedroom, 3,279-square-foot house began in 2018 and resulted in a five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot house. Charlottesville architects Wassenaar + Winkler and builder RM Gantt Construction worked with the Sharmans to give them the needed bones for the remodel.
