From dance recitals to science projects and everything in between, motherhood is synonymous with sacrifice. A mom and an artist, Susan Brown has managed to build her business, For Pete’s Sake Pottery, not only for the sake of her son, Peter Jr., but also for her own creative zeal.
“It’s funny because when I was pregnant with him, I had such an urge to paint a mural in the baby’s room, knowing I hadn’t painted in years,” says Susan, who earned a degree in art and graphic design. “He’s always been my muse.” When Peter Jr. was only 10 months old, the Brown family’s babysitter suddenly quit, so in a pinch, Susan decided to leave her retail management position and stay home full-time. “At that point, I started painting again…
