THE 2026 March in Montana auction and dealer show, presented by Coeur d’Alene Galleries and Coeur d’ Alene Art Auction, will happen Thursday, March 19, through Saturday, March 21, at the Great Falls Elks Lodge. MORE THAN 200 ARTISTS from 28 states, Canada and Africa are exhibiting their latest works during the spring 2026 edition of the La Quinta Art Celebration. MONTANA ARTIST Josh Elliott debuts his new exhibition, titled Hush, at Claggett/Rey Gallery in Edwards, Colorado, on Friday, March 6. Hush includes more than a dozen new paintings that demonstrate an intense exploration of the intricate winter landscapes that excite Elliott visually and intellectually. After extensive travels throughout his home state as well as Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico and other snowy climates, Elliott has built a reference library of photographs and plein air sketches, many of which informed the pieces in this show. WHEN JULEE HUTCHISON was a young art student, prone—as many of us are at that age—to forming instant opinions about people, she watched critically as a fellow artist assumed a fencing stance to paint: feet planted wide, shoulders shifting with the broad movements of his painting arm. To Hutchison the posture seemed showy, maybe a little pretentious, but then she tried it at her own easel at home. The result was humbling, since she had to revise her impression of the artist, but also exciting. SOME OF THE FINEST contemporary artists of the American West will headline the 25th anniversary of the Night of Artists Exhibition and Art Sale at the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. IN 2024 Legacy Gallery launched its Western Horizons exhibition with the idea of offering collectors a different gallery-going experience. What resulted is a two-day affair that includes an exclusive preview reception, a by-draw sale and live auction, a private dinner, awards ceremony, and top-tier talks and demonstrations. SHADES OF PINKISH-LAVENDER in the sky dissolve into the colors of a setting sun. A shabby barn strikes a lonely pose in the middle of a field. It’s fall at dusk near the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York. In the painting SHORTENING DAYS, artist Brett Scheifflee evokes a nostalgic feeling of days gone by. The viewer can imagine that perhaps a farmhouse once stood in the deserted field and creatures once roamed the surrounding terrain. “The old barn stood as such an icon for the area,” Scheifflee says. “In 2020 it blew away in a windstorm.” Scheifflee painted the artwork in 2025 from reference material and memory.
