A GREEDY TIGER roamed the forests looking for food. One day, he came upon a rabbit. “You’re my breakfast,” the tiger said. Although the rabbit was terrified, he said, “But honorable tiger, rabbits always taste better after a serving of rice cakes.” “Where would I get rice cakes?” asked the tiger. “I have some,” said the rabbit. “I’ll cook them for you.” The tiger watched as the rabbit rubbed a few stones together and lit a small fire. I’M IN THE fourth grade, and I have four rules that I live my life by. Number one: all vegetables taste better with ketchup. Two: if your mom asks you what you did in school that day, say anything other than “not much.” Three: stay away from girls. (They’re trouble. Especially Kathy Hanson.) W hat You' ll Need: What to Do: 1. Wash your hands. Then wash all vegetables. Have a grownup peel the cucumber, if preferred. Ask that grownup to cut the cucumber and celery down the middle longways and then to cut the thin celery pieces in half. 2. Open the tub. Place it on the plate near the edge. Cover the rest of the plate with all the carrots, except the two shortest carrots. 3. Lay the cucumber halves, with their insides facing up, on top of the carrots. The cucumber ends should touch the tub rim to look like bunny ears. 4. Set the tomato in the middle of the tub for a nose. Put the blueberries above the tomato for eyes.
