I’m a firm believer that it’s always teatime. Whether the weather is cold or hot, sunny or dreary, a cup of hot tea is usually nearby. I think 19th-century British Prime Minister William Gladstone (who made famous the lines “If you are cold, tea will warm you; If you are too heated, it will cool you”) and I would have gotten along quite well. What a joy it is to receive an invitation to tea! Formal invitations were once required to be printed or written by hand and mailed a couple of weeks before the event. While this is still the preferred method, it is also considered acceptable now to extend and accept an invitation via telephone or e-mail.
