come for tea Each year, I eagerly await the arrival of springtime to see which of the plants in my yard have survived the freezing temperatures of winter. To my amazement, they often don’t just survive; they thrive. Their tender shoots and buds foreshadow the coming of lush foliage and beautiful blossoms, which have inspired so much of this issue of TeaTime, from menus to articles. Children will delight in our outdoor, whimsical afternoon tea to celebrate Easter (page 39), while grownups will revel in the array of edible flowers we’ve incorporated into the foods of our fête set in a gorgeous garden (page 49). It’s not unusual to find a parent-child team working side-by-side in a family tea business. I’ve encountered several of these duos over 30 years of teachingtea courses. However, one of the most interesting mother-daughter duo I’ve met was Wendy Fellows and her daughter Madison. Five years ago, this vibrant pair shared pictures of their restored 40-year-old Citroën fire van imported from Normandy, France. It wasn’t long before their candy apple–red tea truck, bearing the Bubble & Brew logo, hit the road. Their stylish mobile café is a highlight at farmer’s markets, wedding receptions, and special events in their New England village of Wilton, Connecticut, 60 miles north of New York City.
