SEASONAL PREP
Place containerised plants outside in a sheltered sunny spot, covering them with fleece if temperatures are cool, and then thoroughly tidy and disinfect the Glasshouse with an eco-friendly disinfectant. Pull out any plant debris and weeds that have been hiding behind pots, so pests have nowhere to hide over winter.
SOWING AND GROWING
Early in September, especially if it is warm and sunny, sow trays, pots, or old growing bags with “cut and come again” crops to harvest through autumn and into winter, such as land cress, lettuce, chicory, and radish.
Keep watering fruiting crops such as chilis and, particularly, tomatoes to avoid fruit split or blossom end rot, which flattens and blackens the end furthest away from the plant. To hasten ripening, remove any leaves that shade…
