KNIT WITH LOVE Rowan has launched a new knit-along project, called ‘Knitted With Love’, which has been designed by Martin Storey. It will encompass a range of techniques, including colourwork, cables, lace and beading, and offer lots of opportunities for personalising your project. Martin has created a range of knitted square patterns decorated with heart motifs, which can form the building blocks for your own unique cushions and blankets. One of the colourwork hearts can be customised with the initials of someone special. SUSAN CRAWFORD is admired for her vintage-inspired knitwear patterns and her painstaking research into Shetland knitting traditions, which inspired her wonderful book The Vintage Shetland Project. For her latest book, Evolution, Susan has taken details and ideas from these vintage pieces and reimagined them as contemporary, wearable knits. Each design was modelled by Susan, as she explored her own personal evolution after undergoing a double mastectomy as a result of breast cancer. SUZI ASHWORTH runs Folkestone Harbour Yarn, an Etsy shop where she sells her hand-dyed yarns, including her naturally dyed ranges. We chatted with Suzi about her hand-dyeing adventures and her love of colour. When did you first try dyeing yarn? “It was about 10 years ago, when I took up knitting again. I couldn’t find the yarn I wanted in the shops.
