“INSPIRED BY surface embroidery techniques, this jacket has raised diagonal cable lines which meet in the centre back and front,” says Emma Vining. “The stitch pattern uses wrap stitches to create the impression of the cables being stitched to the knitting. To knit the wrap stitch, a loop of yarn is pulled through from the back of the knitting, then knitted together with the two stitches it surrounds. AT HER family farm in Buckinghamshire, Diana Bird is surrounded by sheep, and dearest to her heart is her little flock of characterful Wensleydales. A hand-spinner herself, Diana began sending off her Wensleydale fleeces last year to a commercial mill, to have them processed into hand-knitting yarns which she sells online. We chatted with Diana about her farm and her sheep.
